coffee-grinders.co.uk gives the Hario Skerton Medium Glass Hand Coffee Grinder 5 stars
The Hario Skerton coffee grinder is by far the best selling hand coffee grinder we’ve reviewed and people continue to buy it. It must have something going for it right? it does. I have one of these on my kitchen worktop and I love it. It does exactly what it says on the tin, and does it well. It’s a burr grinder. As coffee buffs know, burr grinders are far better than blade grinders for coffee (see our Why a coffee grinder…? article).
Personally I think people love a hand grinder although to my mind they’re not really as good and are certainly a lot more effort. But people people do seem to love getting their grind on by hand – maybe people like to work for their coffee, no?
Anyway, the Hario is a genuinely good little grinder that does the job pretty well and is robust too. It’s also pretty small which makes it portable. It would be great for travelling if it wasn’t made from ceramic and glass! Which in my opinion is a bit of a mistake as people love coffee travelling gear – Just look how well Aeropress has done and have a good little portable grinder to go alongside it would be great.
However, if you do buy a Haribo coffee grinder you are buying a pretty decent little grinder,
